MISC Berhad

MISC logo
MISC Berhad was incorporated in 1968 and headquartered in Kuala Lumpur as Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad and is the leading international shipping line of Malaysia. Its main shareholder is Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), the national oil conglomerate of Malaysia.

The company is organized into four business segments:

  • Energy-related shipping, engaged in the provision of liquefied natural gas (LNG) services, petroleum tanker services, operation and maintenance of offshore floating facilities
  • Other shipping, which offers chemical tanker services and dry bulk carrier services
  • Integrated liner logistics, which comprises liner services, haulage, trucking, and warehousing and agency businesses
  • Non-shipping, which is engaged in shipbuilding, repairing and heavy engineering works, fleet management services, marine education and training, and other diversified businesses.

Currently the corporation is operating a modern and well-diversified fleet of 110 vessels with a combined tonnage of more than eight million metric tons deadweight (DWT).

With its 18 containerships of total 125,000 TEUs in capacity, MISC's liner business focuses on the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) inbound and outbound trades through an extensive network of agencies around the globe delivering cargo to more than 120 points-of-sales in over 45 countries.

MISC is a member of the Grand Alliance which also includes Hapag Lloyd Container Line, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL). That helps the Malaysian shipping lines expand its offerings and participated in e-portals to provide e-business solutions to its customers.
